Art of Conversation

Gouache and Watercolour  by Julie Nettleton

Julie is a dedicated botanical artist and keen gardener. As a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia, she exhibits regularly at their annual exhibition 'Flora: The Art and Science of the Plant', where she has won a number of awards. She also exhibits at 'Botanica' held by the Friends of the Sydney Royal Botanical Gardens and 'Canberra Botanical'.

Recently Julie was invited to become an artist member of The Florilegium Society in Sydney, whose aim is to record in paintings the significant plants held in the living collections of the Royal Botanic Gardens Trust. Each week she also teaches botanical art at a local art gallery in Sydney.

In previous years Julie's career was in interior design and photorealist oil painting. She studied art with Nigel Thomson, winner of the Archibald and Sulman prizes, and exhibited for many years with Nigel's 'Manly Art Group', including their 10 Year Anniversary Exhibition at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum
