Anita
Robbie studied for a Bachelor of Art Education at Alexander Mackie College
in the late 1970's, but then diverted to the corporate world. Always
maintaining an interest in arts and crafts, she dabbled in many things
including photography, silver-smithing, lead-lighting, silk painting and
ceramics. She began watercolour painting in the 1990's and
botanical painting in 2003.
Anita first
exhibited in the Botanical Art Society of Australia's annual award
exhibition in 2004. A keen gardener, her current work focuses chiefly on
Australian native plants and more recently she has adapted botanical work to
lino-cuts, which, despite the "production" process, remain individual pieces
due to the variations in approach to their hand colouring.
