Framing Nature: Botanical art depicting the importance of environmental diversity - Maleny 2024

This exhibition, the first BASA exhibition to be held in Queensland, was held from 14 to 29 September 2024 at the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, 148 Mountain View Rd, Maleny QLD.

Artists were requested to give preference to artworks depicting species from the Mary Cairncross Reserve and the southeast Queensland however other native plants were also accepted.

The Highly Commended artists were:

  • Edwin Butler for Dysoxylum rufum - hairy rosewood
  • Robyn Graham for Sarcochilus falcatus
  • Anne Hayes for Banksia menziesii - firewood banksia
  • Helen Placanica for Ficus obliqua - small-leaved fig
  • Louise Saunders for Pterostylis revoluta - Autumn greenhood
