I was first introduced to botanical illustration in 2000 while watching a demonstration by a botanical artist at a gardening expo, and was enthralled. It wasn’t until several years later that I found the courage to attend classes as I had no drawing or painting background, and so my passion began. Since then I have attended workshops with many experienced artists including Jenny Phillips, Bev Allen, Elaine Musgrave, Leonie Norton, Barbara Duckworth, and more recently Susannah Blaxill. I have gained something new from each and every workshop as well as enjoying the company of fellow artists. The beginning of a new subject is now interesting and exciting. Observing, sketching, then the graphite tonal drawing and finally the challenge of watercolour is a fulfilling experience. Painting with friends also adds pleasure to an already happy experience. |
