Title: “Botanical Art”
This workshop will introduce techniques for painting in the botanical style of watercolour. You will be taken through the process of drawing then painting various objects to show how to paint using small amounts of paint and water, to create a three-dimensional look.
All levels welcome
Materials List: You’ll need to bring -
Paper: Arches 300 gsm paper – smooth, medium and rough – or you can get small booklets of these three types of paper from Riot, for practising your skills on.
Paints: Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Naples yellow, Burnt Sienna, Caput Mortuum Violet, Australian Grey (Art Spectrum), Australian green gold (Art Spectrum), Payne’s Gray, Perylene Green, Neutral tint (please feel free to bring any paints you have)
Brushes: smallish brushes (not too small, or you can’t get enough paint on them) which can be used to get a good point (they don’t have to be expensive brushes!)
Palette: white china plate or small plastic palette
Notebook and sketch book: small notebook for sketching in and taking notes
Pencil: HB Pencil, sharpener or Stanley knife, soft eraser
Extras: Jar for water, small pieces of towelling to mop brushes
Cost: $60 for Watercolour Society of WA members, $75 non-members (per day)
