Leech-Partington Botanical Art Prize - WA

Penny Leech 1947-2018 was a gifted botanical and natural history artist. Many of her detailed works are in world- wide collections. She lived in Denmark, Western Australia for 14 years painting every day using local specimens which included her favourite eucalypts. It was in Denmark that Leech reached her zenith. Knowing it would have thrilled her, Jennie Partington, Penny’s partner decided to set up an annual art prize. 

Western Australia is well known for its wildflowers, yet does not have an exclusive art award dedicated to its unique flora and fungi.

With collaboration from the Denmark Community Foundation Incorporated [DCF] and many others this award has come to fruition.

Paintings, Drawings in any medium now eligible to enter. 

Closing date for entries: 4 pm 21st February 2022

Works delivered by 25th February 2022

Original artwork may be sold during the exhibition. There will be a 20% commission 

Paintings must be framed and be the artist’s own work.

Artists are responsible for transport of their work[s] both to and from the exhibition venue.

First Prize $1000

Second Prize $500

Third prize $250

People’s Choice $250    

 Prize winners will be paid by electronic transfer in Australian dollars. Upon request the artist should provide their bank details.

Permissions

All rights of the artist will be respected by the organizers and no reproductions will be commercially reproduced.

The organisers reserve the right to postpone the exhibition/prize if there are fewer than twenty submissions.

Whilst every care will be taken the organizers shall not be held responsible for any damage or loss of the art.
