Prize Winners
This was a juried exhibition. The prizes were judged by Beverly Allen and Rick Shepherd and announced at the Exhibition Opening on Sunday 17th July at 11am.
The People’s Choice Award of $500 will also be announced at the end of the exhibition
First PrizeFirst Prize of $2000 was awarded to Angela Lober for her Doryanthes palmeri - spear lily - in watercolour. Judges' Comments Brave and successful composition provides botanical narrative. Stunningly accurate execution. Jumps off the page, brilliant three dimensional effect. Good to see several botanical elements. |

Second PrizeSecond Prize of $1000 was awarded to Susannah Blaxill for her Autumn Strawberry and Leaf in watercolour & gouache. Judges' Comments Exquisitely rendered study of two main elements of the strawberry plant. The painting of the fruit makes it good enough to eat. The atypical pairing of the ripe fruit with the turning leaf demonstrates a good understanding of the plant's behaviour and offers a narrative even within a small work. |
