MIFGS 2019The BASA exhibition at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show was held from 27 to 31 March. It showcased the work of 33 of our artists with 75 individual paintings on display. This year for the first time we asked one of Australia’s premier botanical art teachers Dianne Emery to judge the prizes for Best in Show and Highly Commended. Cielito Marbus from Western Australia won Best in Show with a prize of $300 for her Diuris corymbosa. Four highly commended prizes of $50 each were awarded to Linda Fiddes (Brassica rapa subsp. rapa – turnip), Justine Ulmann (Lichen), Vicki Philipson (Belladona lily 'Mother') and Victoria Morris (Maize). Dianne felt that there were other works deserving of Honourable Mentions and so these were given to Linda Fiddes, Pauline Dewar, Sandra Sanger, Margaret Muffet and Merle McIntyre and Lois Hutchinson. |
